Spiroll and Vikon Team up for Fedorchenko Factory

Following on from successes in previous projects, Spiroll’s partners Vikon helped to secure a contract for the installation of a hollowcore factory for Fedorchenko, a construction company based in Sumy, Ukraine. The factory will serve Fedorchenko’s own construction projects, providing a continuous supply of high quality hollowcore slabs.

The specifications of the contract were to supply two 100 metre long beds, a Universal Extruder with a 220 mm cassette, Bed Cleaner, Crosscut Saw, Distribution Skips and prestressing equipment. Support was provided by both Spiroll and Vikon in the form of bed installation supervision, technical documentation and drawings.

Previously making reinforced hollowcore using moulds, Fedorchenko wanted to upgrade to making prestressed precast hollowcore with the Spiroll extrusion method in order to benefit from a number of key advantages:

  • High load bearing capacity of Spiroll prestressed hollowcore
  • The ability to manufacture slabs to any length
  • The high quality of the finish on the slabs
  • The high precision of dimensions achieved with Spiroll machines

The delivery and commissioning of the factory was done in stages, with the first part being installation of the two 100 metre long beds. This was carried out by a technical team from Vikon and meant that everything was prepared for the arrival of the machinery on site.

The Universal Extruder, Crosscut Saw and Bed Cleaner were commissioned over a one week visit by Spiroll’s engineers, with any minor issues quickly ironed out. Employees of Fedorchenko were also given practical demonstrations and training for tensioning the beds. By the end of the week, the extruder was casting a good product, and this will inevitably improve further once familiarity and experience with the machine increases.

Spiroll’s relationship with the customer does not end following the commissioning however, and a further follow up visit is already being planned to ensure continued success at Fedorchenko. On-going technical support will also be available in the shape of spare parts manufactured by Spiroll in the UK. More local support will also be available via partners Vikon in Russia and Ukraine.
