Hollowcore Plant for Ivory Coast
Spiroll precast plant and equipment has been supplied to the first purpose-built hollowcore production facility in Côte d’Ivoire built by Karam Trading Cote D’Ivoire (KTCI).
Historically, hollowcore concrete has not been much utilised in Ivory Coast and neighbouring countries because its labour-saving benefits are less compelling in a market where labour is inexpensive. However, with the local construction market experiencing a boom and hollowcore offering both design and buildability benefits, KTCI decided to invest in a factory to supply the company’s own construction projects and demand across the local West Africa region.
The Spiroll team worked with KTCI to advise on the capacity needed to supply the market and additional space required to allow for future expansion. Following validation checks to ensure the suitability of the proposed site, an optimised layout was designed, and equipment specified.
Following construction of the factory building by KTCI, Spiroll plant and equipment was installed. This included three 140-m-long casting beds, each with a multistrand detensioning system; a Universal Extruder; a cross-cut saw; jack and pump; underbed heating systems; and all lifting, curing and processing equipment.
Because of its reliability and ease of maintenance, the Spiroll equipment supplied is particularly well suited to the harsh conditions of the location.
