Spiroll is delighted to announce that it has successfully delivered a 150mm extruder to Al-Fayha Precast in Iraq.
Al-Fayha Precast is among the largest independently owned precast concrete companies in Iraq. Based in Southern Iraq near Basrah City they design and manufacture standard and custom precast concrete products to meet large-scale infrastructure demands for highway construction, retaining walls, electric and gas utility, telecommunications, water, on-site waste water, and sewage applications.
As part of their on going commitment to the rebuilding of Iraq Al-Fayha Precast have developed a low cost housing system and required them to add 150mm deep hollow core slabs into their current portfolio of precast products.

Spiroll was selected as the preferred supplier for this project as they were able to offer an extremely competitive package together with a proven hollowcore system that has the optimum usage of raw materials to ensure the most profitable production which fitted in line with Al Fayha Precast’s exceptional range of engineered precast products and solutions.
Spiroll were happy to support Al-Fayha in the construction of their own steel casting beds locally in Iraq. This enabled Al-Fayha to make savings on the transportation costs and import duties associated with importing the beds and more importantly facilitate the quickest possible start-up by having the new hollowcore lines in place prior to the arrival of the extruder.

Spiroll built an exact replica of the Al-Fayha casting bed at their production facility in the UK (this is standard practice for all contracts) which meant the extruder was built and all settings checked and approved prior to despatch. The Spiroll extruder can easily be adapted to work in conjunction with any brand/design of casting bed.
Not only does this save time during the commissioning process but for Al-Fayha’s machine it actually meant that Spiroll didn’t even have to send an engineer to commission the extruder. Spiroll gave full support with the concrete mix design and also supporting Al-Fayha with load span tables and design calculations compliant with ACI codes for the 150mm slabs to work with their low cost precast housing system.

The Spiroll extruder’s simple design means it very easy to use, set-up and maintain. As you can hopefully appreciate from the photos the unique design ensures that production is low cost and the finished hollowcore is of the highest quality.

A continuous campaign to support the establishment of hollowcore in India has resulted in Spiroll securing its first Indian contract. Spiroll’s efforts came to fruition after Stephen Carr and Richard Jamison visited India in February this year for the Cemcon seminar in Pune.

In its fifteenth year, the seminar entitled ‘Redefining Mass Housing and Infrastructure in India’ was the first of its kind to focus on the country’s building needs. The event, which was jointly organised by the ICI (Indian Concrete Industry) and Cemcon, attracted companies from all over the world and proved to be an excellent showcase of precast companies as well as a demonstration of the knowledge that already exists in the country.
